At the age of 4 I took my first wrestling match. Because of that, most of my life I have been dedicated to health and fitness. Wrestling taught me so many things that went well beyond the mat. It was a fantastic experience. Over time I had stopped working out as hard as I used to while in high school and the first few years out of high school. I started feeling sluggish and always saw the P90X infomercial on tv. In the spring of 2009, I decided to buy it and the results were great. Right around that time I start taking MMA fights. I had some pretty good success with it and I very much enjoyed my time in the cage.
Growing up, I could never understand how people let themselves get so far out of shape. Then I started a family and had a full time job in which I put in over 50 hours a week. Because I felt life was becoming a little overwhelming, I started to understand how people let their health and fitness take a back seat. My oldest child was about 6 months old. I was working around 50-60 hours per week and I was exhausted.
In March of 2012 I finally got it together. I started P90X again. Overall I lost 6 pounds and 8% body fat in just 90 days. Finishing the program at the end of May and submitted my results to the Beachbody Challenge. I did not want to submit my results because I didn't feel I had a chance to win at all. I submitted my results because my Beachbody Coach kept insisting that I do it.
My results were good enough to help me become a monthly winner in the Beachbody Challenge and they sent me a check for $1,000. My advice to you is, enter your results every month. You never know what will happen, just do it. It's a FREE service so why not take advantage of it? If you don't win, who cares. Enter the contest again next month. And seriously, if all you have to do is workout at home with a Beachbody workout program and submit your results for a chance to win $1,000, would you really pass on the opportunity?
After P90X I did a round of Insanity. While I didn't get really big or add a lot of muscle, I increased my cardio immensely. Unfortunately I really didn't take a lot of pictures or measurements throughout the program which is a regret I have now. Once I finished Insanity, I took about 6 weeks where I was working out on and off. I did some P90X and then used Insanity for the cardio days. I took a lot more rest days than I had since before I started working out.
In September of 2012 I started Body Beast. This program very quickly became my absolute favorite program to do. Seriously, it's not even a close call for me with any other workout I've ever done. I started seeing results within the first couple of weeks. I went from 156 pounds to 168 pounds. Through the course of the program I also lost 2% body fat and grew 10.5" all around. The results I had were exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to add a lot of muscle and gain weight. If that's you, starting Body Beast is an absolute must.
I once again submitted my results to the Beachbody Challenge. Again, why not? It's a free service and no matter if you've won or not. You can submit one time every single month. I received a phone call from Beachbody the very next day. They were in the process of finalizing the very first Body Beast Infomercial ever. They needed my pictures, stats, and videos ASAP. I overnighted the material and I was fortunate enough to be in the Body Beast infomercial. I was also asked to do a professional photo shoot and video testimony for the Body Beast workout program at the Team Beachbody Coach Summit held out in Las Vegas in June of 2013. Believe me, I had a blast doing that. The entire trip was one of the best experiences of my life.
By the time I finished Body Beast, it was the start of wrestling season. I coach for a local high school. I stopped lifting to focus on wrestling during the season planning to start once the season ended. Unfortunately, after the season I needed to have hernia surgery. My recovery has taken a very long time and we found out I had more issues wrong than just a hernia. Not only did I have a hernia, but I had a torn groin muscle, strained oblique muscle, and I tore the tendon that connects you knee to your pelvic bone. Recovery was terrible until I started seeing my chiropractor, Dr. Jason. Because of him, I'm definitely feeling better and can see my progress move in the right direction. I had lost a lot of the results I had because of my injuries, but that will only add to my story down the line. I'm getting better and stronger everyday. Today, I'm completely cleared to go back to my normal routine of things. Being able to Body Beast again is amazing. I can't believe how much I missed lifting weights. I've also entered the Beachbody Classic (a physique competition) at the 2014 Beachbody Coach Summit in Las Vegas. (Wish me luck!)
